Hi, I'm a retired nobody named Peter Sawyer. I have no interest whatsoever in Israel Folau or his fight with Rugby Australia.
However I am mightily peeved that Go Fund Me has chosen to delete his fund raising campaign because he voiced his religious beliefs, beliefs shared by hundreds of millions his Christian brethren.
As it so happens I disagree with Folau's stated beliefs, however to paraphrase the immortal words of Voltaire, "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".
So it is with me. Go Fund Me, both here in Australia, and overseas, has hosted many fund raising efforts on behalf of people espousing a wide variety of religious views. Only Christianity it seems, offends their delicate sensibilities.
So be it. The purpose of this fund raiser is two-fold. First to raise money to establish and maintain a website for monitoring Go Fund Me, collate evidence of them allowing any other fund-raising that breaches their selectively applied applied terms of service, and report such incidences to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for unfair trading practices.
The second aim of this fund raiser is to see how long it manages to last before it too, is deleted on some trumped up garbage excuse.
