My mum was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and only has until Christmas. My mum lives in Australia, and I live in the USA. I haven't been able to see my family in 12 years. My mum has told me I need to come home and see her one last time, and let her meet her granddaughters for the first time, while she's still alive.
I have no savings of my own left. My husband was laid off from his job the same week I learned of my mum's condition. My passport is expired, and I would have to first travel to the Australian Consulate-General in N.Y. city to renew it, which is 10 hours drive away.
I need visas and passports for my husband and our young daughters, who will never get another chance to see their "Grandmama" again. We also need money for plane tickets, government document processing fees, basic living expenses while abroad, and covering our rent while we are away to make sure we have a home to return to.
My mum is a very witty, loving, creative, intelligent, and compassionate woman. She is the strongest person I know, and it's hard knowing I will soon lose her. I would like my mum's last few months in this world to be better than the hardships she's faced over the past few years. All she wants is for her family to be complete again. Any extra funds received would go towards making memories with my mum and our family.
