Global Solo Challenge - Roaring Forty

Donation protected
G'day crew,
My name is Kev Le Poidevin, a retired Australian Air Force Officer and keen offshore solo sailor. Circumnavigating our beautiful planet has been my lifelong goal.

I sail to support my two charities; Brain Tumour Alliance Australia and Soldier On.
My actions will hopefully translate into raising awareness and funds via direct links to each charitable organisation.

This GoFundMe page has been established for those of you who have asked me how you can personally help me successfully compete in the 2023/24 Global Solo Challenge (GSC).
I could not attempt this challenge without my family and friends getting behind me, so I will not let you down.
I am self-funded and without a primary sponsor. Thankfully some suppliers are on board and offering discounted products, for which I am also very grateful.

Fortunately, we are in a position where we own the most expensive part of my Aviator Ocean Racing campaign, a fast, solid and proven ocean-capable yacht.

In 2017 I purchased 'Roaring Forty', a 1997 Lutra Open 40. It is a proven solo offshore weapon with a demonstrated track record, including several world records and a solo circumnavigation in the 2008 Global Ocean Race under her Belgian owner.

I have spent the past five months in Europe working on Roaring Forty before sailing her to the GSC host port of A Coruna Spain. I will return and finish preparations and training in April 2023 in preparation for my 28 Oct 2023 start date.

So how can you help me?
Share my story for two reasons:
1. Promote my charities to raise awareness
2. To attract corporate sponsorship that will offset personal financial burden and improve your interactive experience as you follow along on our adventure.
3. To provide an opportunity and a platform where the public can support me.

Any financial, product or service donation is gratefully appreciated.
The priority areas where you can help will be replacing my primary sails, running rigging and the purchase of a watermaker. My risk mitigation strategy is to use my current equipment to repair any damage at sea. The GSC is single-handed, unassisted and non-stop event, which means no help.

Safety is critical, and redundancy is essential.

Please note, this page IS NOT for donations to my charities. Follow the links in my Facebook page to direct deposit your donation.
