Global Health Education Program-Brazil

Hi Everyone,

As a senior nursing student, I have been selected to go to Brazil with 10 other nursing students, medical students, and alumni from the Chamberlain College of Nursing campuses across the United States. This Global Health Education program  will give me the opportunity to take all of the nursing skills and knowledge I have acquired in the classroom and clinical rotations, and apply them in a humanitarian capacity.

I will be traveling to Brazil’s northeastern state in May 2019. During this time I will spend one week in a rural area and one week in the urban setting practicing and furthering my nursing skills, educating the community, and enhancing my love of helping others.

We will be delivering services to numerous patients of all backgrounds and all types of illnesses. These are low income, impoverished and rural communities with limited access, and often no means to other medical care. Our group will be traveling to Recife and Caruaru to set up small clinics in efforts to diagnose and treat patients at no cost.

The mission of this group is to provide health promotion and disease prevention in a spirit of collaboration with the communities we serve. The ultimate goal is that through our partnership with these areas, we eventually leave the community having supported and provided a higher level of health and the intrinsic means of sustaining health promotion.

This trip will deeply enhance my clinical education, help me to become a more well-rounded care provider, and give me the chance to experience a dramatically different cultural and socioeconomic environment. Please consider making any donation, small or large, to my cause as it will make a tremendous impact on the lives of those we will be serving.

The donation’s collected will not only help us with the supplies we need to provide care, but assist those to maintain their health during and after our stay.
