Global Health Initiatives in Peru
Donation protected
Nursing has taken me an astounding number of places, I've been very lucky to have a career that has made travel a possibility for me. Although I've chosen to "stay" in one place for a little over a year now I'm finding new ways to travel, ways that are more meaningful.
On June 8th a group organized by the hospital system I am employed by, Centura Health, will be heading down to Iquitos in the Amazon of Peru to work with the Clinica Ana Stahl (http://www.clinicaanastahl.org.pe/ ) The Global Health Initiative program sends surgical and OBGYN groups down five times per year, but the clinic has not been visited by a GI team in 4 years.

One doctor from the practice I work in and myself are working to gather equipment (updated scopes, supplies to perform more advanced procedures, supplies for appropriate cleaning techniques) for the clinic and would like to join the trip to evaluate the needs of the clinic and set up systems so that they can receive the supplies they need to better care for the people of the area. We will also be performing procedures and teaching the staff how to use the updated equipment we bring.
I was invited on this trip last week and it is a mere three months away! The cost is $2,650, as a now stationary nurse I'm not exactly rolling in the dough, so any donation will help! All donations are tax deductible and can be made through this page.
I promise to revive the blog for this adventure! https://littlekacybigworld.com/ Heck, maybe I'll even revive the thing and keep it alive this time!
Thanks!!
