Habitat for Humanity Global Build Fund Raiser for Stuart Abbott

             Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-governmental and nonprofit organization that was founded in 1976. This organization has been committed to building affordable housing for families in need all over the world. Habitat builds simple houses with locally appropriate materials. There are many different ways in which Habitat reaches out both near and far. Locally you may have stopped into a ReStore that sells both new and used goods donated by surrounding companies. Funds from Restores help local affiliates fund the construction of houses within the community.

            Global Village Trips are as they sound, volunteers travel world wide to sometimes remote places to help the less fortunate.  Most teams consist of eight to fifteen people with trips usually lasting between nine and fourteen days.

            The purpose of this particular fundraiser is to raise enough funds to allow Stuart Abbott to travel to one such location in Peru. Stuart has had the opportunity once already to visit the village of Pokhara  in Nepal in late Jan of 2012. Here he worked side by side with locals and other Habitat participants to build homes for families. He often speaks of his accomplishments on this trip as one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences he had ever had. Stuart being a carpenter has built many homes but recalls how different it was helping the Nepalese people build their homes, hauling sand and stone from the river to make cement for the structures. Stuart is one of the most generous and hard working individuals I have ever been blessed to meet. He has helped countless friends and family members over the years with no expectation of payment in return. His pours himself into every project building as if it was his own home, never looking past the fine details.
