On Sunday, December 29, 2013 our beautiful friend, Courtney, lost her battle with a sudden, unexpected illness, & passed away at the young age of 31. Courtney had the most amazing spirit & touched so many lives with her infectious zest for life. Her loss is felt by countless friends, coworkers, & acquaintances, but those who have felt the biggest impact are her family "“ including her amazing daughter, Bevyn.
Courtney was a single mother who worked two jobs in order to provide for her daughter. Like many single parents she had no medical insurance or life insurance or money in savings for emergencies. When Courtney went to the hospital in December, after experiencing flu like symptoms that just weren't getting any better, Bevyn was left in the care of Courtney's family, with whom they shared a home. While in the hospital she would miss her daughter's 10th birthday, as well as Christmas. When she passed away, the family was left with a mountain of expenses & responsibilities to deal with, all while trying to cope with the grief of losing their precious daughter, sister, mother.
Several of Courtney's friends are putting together a benefit in an effort to help out the family with medical bills & other large expenses. This campaign, however, is to help provide for more immediate expenses; the day to day & seemingly insignificant things that one might not otherwise think about at times like this. For example, we would like to be able to use a portion of the funds raised in order to provide Bevyn with the birthday party she still hasn't had. One filled with fun & laughter & sparkle & glitter "“ just as Courtney would want.
Courtney was such an amazing & loving person & she cherished her little girl & her family more than anything in the world. Not only did she live life to the fullest, she brought life to everything she did. Her presence filled the entire room & you had no choice but to give in & join her. That same fire can be seen in Bevyn & that speaks volumes about Courtney as a mother. Please help us to bring a touch of glitter back to the lives of her daughter & her family during this very difficult time.
