Glenn's Life Point

On February 6, 2018 Chanel Marson and her four boys suffered the untimely loss of their husband, father, rock and life force, Glendon Marson. That Tuesday afternoon Chanel could have never predicted she would lose the love of her life and break her sons’ hearts with the news that their father would never come back home.

Glendon and Chanel would have celebrated 20 years of Marriage this August. They were blessed with their first two sons, Darien and Avery, early into their marriage. When their youngest son turned six years old, God saw fit to increase their territory and blessed them with twins! The bliss they experienced knowing their family would soon welcome two new babies was immeasurable; but their joy turned into anguish when they discovered their unborn sons would be born with severe birth defects. They had much to consider in this moment; and even though the medical experts, friends and family urged them to terminate, Glendon and Chanel turned to God, put all their trust in Him, allowed Him to lead and continued the path God set for them. As predicted, their new born sons arrived with extreme defects – Bryan with spina bifida and Bryce with congenital heart disease. As you can imagine, seeing their babies suffer and knowing the lifelong battles they would have to overcome caused a pain in Glendon and Chanel most will never be able to imagine. As hard as it was for them to do, Glendon and Chanel remained focused to God’s calling over their sons’ lives and persevered in spite of.

As the years went by, the family grew, and the twins’ medical challenges became much more intense. Bryan’s spina bifida keeps his bones very soft and brittle, making it easy for them to break. This means he cannot bear any weight on his legs and is bound to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. This condition also forces Bryan to have a colostomy bag and get daily catherization. Bryce’s congenital heart defects have made his life one surgery after the next, barely allowing him enough space and time for his body to heal before being placed back on the operating table. Glendon and Chanel knew their boys would face numerous surgeries and medical challenges because of their conditions. Bryan and Bryce’s special needs required Glendon and Chanel to create a work schedule allowing only one parent to work consistently so the other would meet the daily medical needs of the boys. There were times when both Glendon and Chanel were forced to work to ensure the overall success of their family; and despite the trials experienced with the care of the twins, both Glendon and Chanel went back to school to further their education and advance in their respective careers. Their commitment to their family was unwavering; they moved as one and made the impossible happen daily.

Glendon left this earth a few days shy of his son Avery’s 19th birthday. Glendon was preparing the family for his son Bryan’s upcoming surgery, which will be a preliminary surgery to another surgical procedure on his spine - his biggest surgery to date, requiring seven weeks of in-hospital recovery and an un identifiable recovery period once he leaves.  Glendon was preparing  for Bryan's surgery while ensuring the family rallied around Bryce, who continues to heal from the surgery that almost took his life last August. Glendon was shoring his family for all the challenges coming their way…and just like that his life was cut short…his work left undone.

Now Chanel is left alone to carry a load that was unbearable even for a couple with their strength, love and commitment. Chanel is now faced with the harsh reality of being the sole provider for their family – carrying their financial load, while being the only physical provider for Bryan and Bryce during all their medical procedures. To add to this, Chanel has her own medical history that requires attention. In 2013 Chanel was diagnosed with skin cancer. Chanel was 100% healed and saved from the death sentence so many of us know comes with cancer. As a cancer conqueror it is vital that Chanel remain as stress free and healthy as possible; stress causes many illnesses and cancer is no exception. Glendon was always there to shield, protect and partner with Chanel so the responsibilities that come with their special needs children wouldn’t re-trigger her cancer. Now that Glendon is gone, Chanel has the weight of everything on just her, leaving her vulnerable to possibly battle this merciless disease again.

This family needs our help. Even now, Chanel is prepping her son Bryan for his upcoming surgery; and his pre-op work just revealed a heart issue that was unseen to his team of medical professionals until now. Chanel must bear the weight of all this while ensuring Bryce continues to heal and planning the family’s relocation. As recent as of 3/21/2018, to add insult to injury, Bryce was scheduled for an MRI of his brain because of a cyst that the doctors are monitoring. They hope it to be benign but are unsure as of yet. They did, however, find a bleed in his brain. This, on top of the recent life changing status of the patriarch of their family, could not have come at a worse time. Chanel is now on high alert and must monitor Bryce for symptoms of a stroke. Chanel is the only one left to actively care for the boys, provide for the entire family financially, and keep them girded as they all mourn and grieve the tremendous loss of their beloved father and husband.
Family, we all know people who find themselves in misfortune and perilous situations, just like Chanel and her boys are facing now. Glendon and Chanel have been a blessing to many people over the years. They’ve sown seeds that have enriched numerous lives and have blessed countless others through their commitment to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is because of their undying commitment to the body of Christ that a few of their closest friends now come together to make this appeal on their behalf.

For Chanel to sustain the family and help them thrive and reach the full potential of their God given gifts and purpose, she needs an operating budget of $500,000 which will cover all the medical expenses and care for the twins and the family’s overall living expenses for the next few years. For all Glendon and Chanel have given, we ask you now to sow into them and help us meet this much needed goal.

Chanel found a help meet in Glendon. Throughout their 23 years together, Glendon was all things and then some to her and the boys. He was larger than life and blessed by God to be his family’s source of strength. Chanel and the boys find themselves in unfamiliar territory – they’ve always had their husband and father to see them through and guide them through life’s perils. Family, our love and compassion towards those in need can bless Chanel and the boys and help them navigate this new world without Glendon. Those of us committed to this family’s elevation ask you to please greatly consider them now; and do as you’ve done for others before and help them in their most dire hour.
We thank you so much for taking the time to learn about their plight and for considering them.
