Glenn Massey Dauphin Island Storm

This is a family friend taking over updates as the Massey Family continues to wade through the chaotic details related to the unusual circumstances of Glenn's death.

In addition to working with local law enforcement, Coast Guard and other agencies involved with the search efforts, Ben is also getting a huge amount of media inquiries. Billy is joining him in Alabama today and together they have to balance these public demands with their personal grief at the sudden loss of their beloved Father.

When we started this page there was hope that Glenn would be found alive. With the discovery of his body comes the additional difficult tasks of settling their Father's affairs and making funeral arrangements. So far no will or life insurance policy has been found, for that reason I'm raising their fundraising goal to include funeral expenses.

Ben and Billy are still in shock, but they've asked me to thank everyone for all the love and support. Keep the texts, Facebook messages and calls coming. They may not be able to respond but please know your love is providing comfort in this difficult time.

Any funds raised that they don't need for the immediate costs associated with this tragedy will be donated to a prison reading program , a cause near and dear to their father's heart.

UPDATE:

Tuesday night I learned my father's remains were recovered near an offshore gas platform the mouth of Mobile Bay.  Thank you to the many good Samaritans who participated in the search effort after the Dauphin Island storm.

Glenn Massey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hope, and faith that will carry on for generations.

Thank you to everyone so much for your kind words and support during this most difficult time.  My brother and I appreciate any help you can give with travel to Alabama and whatever expenses come with laying our Dad to rest.

Any funds raised that we don't need for the immediate costs associated with this tragedy will be donated to a prison reading program , a cause near and dear to my father's heart.

USA Today Alabama Storm Rescue

My father was on a boat during a huge unexpected storm off of the coast of Alabama on Saturday 4/25. He is one of four still missing. I am going to Alabama as soon as possible to be with my family.

I do not know when I will be able to return to Portland, so I'm asking for help covering these unexpected, unknown expenses. Any funds in excess of what will be used specifically for dealing with this crisis, will be donated to programs that bring books to prisoners, a cause dear to my father's heart.

Thank you,
Ben
