Glenn Wurst Medical Fund

We are raising funds for Glenn Wurst, our Outside Sales Rep at RSG in Albuquerque, NM.  Glenn has an extremely rare form of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. Sarcomas account for only 1% of adult cancers and within that 1% there are more than 50 different sub-types, Leiomyosarcoma being one of them.

Due to the fact that it has spread to different regions of his body, Glenn is Stage IV and is not a candidate for radiation or surgery. Chemotherapy is his only option and due to the nature of his cancer he will be on it for his entire life. He is still trying to find one that will work. 

At this point he has exhausted more than six different kinds of chemo. He clings to the hope of finding a clinical trial that will help save his life but due to the rarity of his cancer, funding is low for trials and they are few and far between. He has traveled to MD Anderson in Houston and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York and one of these larger Sarcoma centers will be his only hope, but those types of expenses are not covered by insurance along with out-of-pocket annual maximums and other treatment-related expenses.

In Beacon Roofing Supply's culture, we know that when one hurts, we all help.  Glenn is the father of four children and this June will celebrate 30 years with his wife, Christine. Diagnosed in September of 2017 Glenn has been through endless testing as well as continuous chemo treatments and has never once complained. It is a testament to his love for his family, his dedication to a job he enjoys and his will to continue to live his life as best he can.  His family is so very appreciative of all of the support and well-wishes from everyone, including the amazing team of people that Glenn works with and for at Beacon.  It has been a true blessing not to have to worry about that part of their lives so that Glenn can focus on getting well.
