Background: Glenn Harris, RHS Class of 1972, was a fun and well loved guy and husband. Sadly, Glenn succumbed to bone cancer and passed away on Jan 3, 2020 in Gastonia (just outside of Charlotte), NC. Glenn’s remains were cremated and are in loving possession of his wife, Karen F Harris. Glenn had expressed wishes to be placed next to his parents (Cleaster and Una Harris). However, Karen was unsure how to achieve this, not being from Richlands and not knowing their burial location and also the financial costs involved. On hearing this, I decided to investigate. I was able to locate his parents and they are interred at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.

I then contacted Greenhills about making arrangements to (at long last) place Glenn’s ashes alongside his parents. I am happy to announce we will be conducting this ceremony in a small gathering at Greenhills on the 4 and 3/4th anniversary of his passing, on Saturday Oct 4, 2025 at 10am (Note: This is an update from the original planned date). All family and friends are openly invited. Nothing fancy is planned for this, just a gathering to pay respects and share memories of this wild, very decent, and crazy funny friend.  Also, friends are requested to contribute if they can to the costs associated with this event. Greenhills is charging $4,438 for this burial – this is being underwritten by a benefactor but all help in covering this cost would be appreciated.
