Glendale Flour Mills Preservation

Our goal is to preserve the former Glendale Flour Mills  , a grist mill located in Douglass Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The mill was built in 1838 and sits along the beautiful Ironstone Creek, just above the confluence with Manatawny Creek. Glendale Flour Mills  is just around the corner from the Pine Forge Academy and the Thomas Rutter mansion. The Colebrookdale Railroad  runs the length of the mill property, from Ironstone Park, to the trestle at Pennypacker Creek. Our valley has an abundance of history and more information is being harvested every week.

Glendale Flour Mills  is located on Grist Mill Road in Boyertown and consists of a private residence, which was the former miller's house, a smokehouse and a chicken coop building. The dam was destroyed in a hurricane in the 1950's, however two wonderful photos of the dam do exist.

The photos will be shared on Facebook by searching Glendale Flour Mills , and it is believed the photos have not been seen by anyone but family members until now. Stay tuned!

The objective of this fundraiser is to gather immediate funding necessary for the repair and restoration of the structure and architectural details necessary to maintain the mill's historical integrity. Overall, the end goal is to have the Glendale Flour Mills  recognized and designated by the
National Trust for Historic Preservation and to use the building in an adaptive reuse capacity.

We are very grateful for any donations, whether monetary or historical, to help preserve and share this building for generations to come.
