Help Glenda Aguilera Espinoza fight her cancer in Nicaragua.
The government of Nicaragua is cracking down on any dissent from its citizens. Anyone speaking out against government repression can face violent punishment and even death. Glenda’s brother and his family have fled Nicaragua and have been granted entry to the United States to pursue an asylum claim. But the family that remains in Nicaragua is very poor and the family now in the United States is barely getting by and so has little extra money to send home to help Glenda with her cancer treatment. But you can help this family with your donation. Here is Glenda’s story in her own words:
"My name is Glenda Patricia Aguilera Espinoza, I'm 46 years old. I am a single mother and my son Alvaro Gabriel Casco is 12 years old. We live in Managua, Nicaragua.
Before COVID I was a business administrator and have very little money. My parents are poor, so I do not have anyone's help.
At this moment I'm going through a critical moment with my health. I have thyroid cancer and I need to have surgery in the next few weeks, preferably in the next few days. The surgery and the hospital stay will be very costly for me. I am a single mother and I need to have this surgery so I can recover and take care of my young son. Due to COVID, this situation is even more complicated. The doctor has told me I have to quarantine 15 days before and after the procedure. I also have to get tested for COVID, which I have to pay for out of pocket. In addition to this test, the pre-op and xrays, and the surgery itself, there are likely to be other treatment costs after the surgery. This is so much money and I'm very worried because I do not know what to do. I ask you please to help me. If through your generosity we are able to collect more money than I need for my medical treatment, the rest will be used for my brother’s legal expenses for his asylum case in the States.
