Glen Falls, NY traumatic car crash

Donation protected
This is the story of our failed trip to New York City.

What happened?

Leaving Montreal on the morning of January 28, 2018 we noticed the tires of our car were slightly flat. We then put air into the tires before crossing the border. Once we were an hour in to the United States of America we notices the front tires pulling to the left irregularly. We kept having to adjust the alignment even though we were traveling on a very straight stretch. We then switched drivers. After about thirty minutes, the car still occasionally pulling, I the driver noticed something close in my right mirror and checked my blind spot for about 2 seconds. When I turned back around the tire had pulled me so we were facing the direction of traveling into the ditch at 65 miles per hour. Trying to regain control of the steering but also in shock the car swerved to the right and then back to the left and into the ditch. We rolled upside down 3 times and spun around once landing on our tires. All of the windows had smashed in. There was glass everywhere, huge ice blocks and snow on top of us all in the vehicle. There was blood everywhere. All over the car, all over all of us and all over the snowy ground around the car. Surprisingly the blood all came from one passengers thumb and other fingers, the cuts were deep. My second passenger broke his nose and has a black eye, I got whip lash with pain in the left side of my head, neck, shoulder and back.

In complete shock and denial we tried to make the right next steps when in a situation like ours. The police came, the ambulance came for passenger 1’s thumb and other fingers and a tow truck for the car. The police ticketed the driver for “failure to keep right”.

Now we have thousands of dollars in medical bills, hundreds in tow truck fees, a traffic ticket to pay, a car and lost belongings to replace. We also need to go to psychological trauma therapy which costs a lot of money.

After losing our passports and other valuables that flew out of the car window at the scene of the accident, we had to pay for 150 kilometres in total of taxis to get back there to look for everything (un able to find some things) and then back the the hospital 40 minutes south.

Most importantly passenger one's hand is her career, a tattoo artists right had. She has had to cancel or reschedule all of her upcoming appointments and is unsure of how soon she will be healed enough to continue working.

We are all completely traumatized emotionally and we are here reaching out to our friends, family and anyone else willing to help us with our horrible financial and traumatic disaster.
