Glass For Good - Broken Arrow Glass

Donation protected
Broken Arrow Glass is a family run, sustainable, and zero-waste glass studio located north of Santa Fe in Cuyamunge, NM.  Broken Arrow Glass provides the Santa Fe area with its first ever residential and commercial doorstep glass recycling collection service.  Our studio then transforms this glass recycling into handmade functional and decorative glass goods.

We need your help!
Broken Arrow Glass is building the first creative and sustainable glass recycling facility in Santa Fe, NM.  Our goal is to raise $26,235 to purchase a glass crusher (6,550), glass saw (2,235), glass melter (5,500) and a box truck (12,000) to be able to scale up our business. Please help us and be a part of the creative solution for glass recycling in the state of New Mexico.

Our Mission
To divert glass out of our local landfill. This benefits the community, our environment, and empowers the people that recycle their glass with Broken Arrow Glass.

Our Plan of Action
To crush and transform glass recycling into usable materials and products that can be used for “good” in our community.
We are going to purchase a glass crusher that will allow us to utilize crushed waste glass for eco-construction and supply a variety of raw glass materials to artisans and art studios.  As Broken Arrow Glass’ doorstep glass recycling collection service and processing facility continues to grow, we will provide many job opportunities and raw glass materials to be used in our community.

Our Challenges
Currently, we execute the entire recycling process by hand with our two person team. Our challenge is that we are lacking the necessary machinery to automate our glass processing facility. Once we can purchase the equipment that we have listed above, we will be equipped to process the growing amounts of post-consumer glass waste that is currently being brought to our facility.

Information About Recycling Glass
In the United States, including Santa Fe, only 30% of glass is recycled, 70% goes into the landfill, with Broken Arrow Glass 100% of your glass is recycled and kept out of the landfill.
Glass that gets dropped off at the municipal recycling center in Santa Fe is crushed and then used as a liner in the landfill to collect the leachate that settles at the bottom. It is very costly to transport glass to another state so only a small amount of amber glass is currently being transported to the Coors facility in Colorado to be made back into bottles. Right now the city is not offering crushed glass pick up for landscape use.
With the help of your donations, Broken Arrow Glass is here to offer a sustainable and closed-loop alternative for recycling glass in the Santa Fe area.

Thank you for joining us in Glass for Good! We hope you follow along Broken Arrow Glass’ journey to see exactly how your donations are growing our creative glass recycling facility in New Mexico.
