We met the children from Gamru Village through our daily community service placements, in their anganwaris (kindgergartens) and summer camps, during our trip to India in July and August 2013.
The GLA India Movement Scholarships will fund 14 boys and girls (half Indian students, half Tibetan students) for one year of movement classes at D'shala Dance.
Classes will be twice a week, with other open studio time available. Safe and reliable transportation to and from the village to the studio is provided. Students will hold two recitals/performances per year.
Through our GLA Movement Scholarships, local kids will have the opportunity to develop creativity, leadership qualities, learn about equal rights, cooperation, physical strength and coordination, endurance, memory and focus, sense of community and belonging, confidence, and more! These life skills will serve them well in their futures and help bond young Indians and Tibetans.
