My family has been struggling for months to come to a solution with the city. In June our toilet was running but was fixed before the fourth of July. We later received a bill that was about $1000 I thought it must be a mistake but after talking to the city came to the conclusion that it was not, we agreed to pay it seeing as we had a toilet running. Since that my landlord, a plumber and multiple of people have checked our home for leaks but we later received a bill for close to 100,000 gallons of water usage!!!!!! We have requested a new meter be installed and had meetings with the city manager. The city WILL NOT let us set up a payment plan and continues to charge us outrageous amounts for our water! Tacking on interst. We have paid what we can and will continue to pay as much as possible but our bill is now $2700!!!!! At this point my family is not sure if we can continue to stay in Grand Ledge. I know this sounds crazy but we have been in constant contact with the city and have had no resolve. On top of all of this the water quality is so poor we drink only bottled water and have filters on our sinks.
