Clyde J. Myers Memorial Fund

Clyde J. Myers was born in 1955 in Topeka, Kansas.  He passed on October 23, 2014 of a pulmonary embolism.  Unfortunately Joe suffered many medical tragedies over the years:  liver transplant 10 years ago, quadruple bypass in 2011, single bypass and valve replacement in August 2013, partial lung removal in September 2013 plus the ensuing radiation and chemotherapy treatment.
Joe lost his job in August of 2013 due to his surgeries though his employer had told him that when he got well he would be able to come back. He was unable to get life insurance because of his health.
Joe's widow, Kaye Myers, was unable to work during a portion of 2013 and 2014 because of her own disability and because taking care of Joe was a full-time job due to dementia caused by his chemotherapy.
Kaye is not only grieving the loss of her husband and her soul mate she is also very, very scared she will lose their home.  She is lucky in that their home is paid for but normal everyday bills have to be paid AND horrendous medical bills in addition to that.  Even with insurance every hospital stay cost around $1,000 in co-pays for example.  This does not include separate co-pays for ambulances and medical equipment.  The remainder of these bills are reaching a total of $3000 even though she has been paying a medical bill every month.  It may get higher but Kaye is hopeful that by January she will be able to handle things.
Sometime in January she will start receiving her widow benefits plus her own disability is being approved (start of middle January 2015).  This income will allow her to keep her home but is not high enough for her to pay off all the medical bills.
Please help us make sure Kaye can keep the home she lived in with Joe.  This is very important not only to her but Joe always made it clear to everyone he knew that his biggest worry was that Kaye would lose their home and that she would not have a "roof over her head" during her old age.  This is NOT an impossible task.  The home is paid for but she still has to pay all the bills, yearly property tax, etc.  If you can help in any way to reach the goal set we all know that she will appreciate it in all ways possible.  She has a huge hole in her heart and she also has a lot of fear.  We want to take that fear away and make sure that she can keep her home.  She is well loved by her neighbors, friends and congregation.
Kaye will eventually personally speak to each and every one who donates but please be patient.  We all suspect she has to get through a certain portion of the grieving process before she can even think about talking to others.
ABOUT JOE:  Joe was a person who never met a person who wasn't an immediate friend...he loved people so much.  He was also a giving person...he would help anyone at any time if it was possible.  One time, a hungry man close to where Joe worked asked him for money.  It was obvious the man was drunk so Joe, instead of giving him money to drink away, went to the store and bought him some food.  That man cried when he received the food and eventually they became friends and the man finally quit drinking.  He is now a productive member of society.  Joe loved to sing, cook, garden, and talk.  His favorite holiday was a Christmas spent with family and friends.
A eulogy was set up online so that people who could not attend his memorial service could sign a guest book.  His service was very well attended and you may view the funeral home eulogy at  hughesfuneralhome.org/2014/10/23/8003.
Thank you all and Blessings for everyone!

(This campaign is being done by B. Haggerty for Kaye Myers on an account set up for Kaye Myers. All funds will go directly to Kaye Myers and this campaign was done with full knowledge of Kaye and with her help for all the information contained)

Edit:  Kaye wanted me to make it clear that she can cover Nov/Dec bills.  What she cannot cover is the medical bills and the January bills which is why I suggested that she and I sit down and do this.  Even if she gets her benefits in January it won't be until the middle of the month which won't help when bills come due at beginning of month.  Joe, for instance, was born on the 14th so he did not receive his benefits until the 3rd week of the month.
