Framing my New Orleans Gallery Show

Donation protected
My name is Ray Laskowitz. I'm a photographer. I've been making pictures for about 40 years. I rarely show my work in a galley setting. This year I was invited to show my work for the PhotoNOLA event. This is a big, huge deal for me. When I evacuated after Hurricane Katrina I really never thought that I would see New Orleans again except maybe for visits. Luckily,  I returned about four years ago. Since my return, I've been photographing all things "culture." Second line parades. Mardi Gras Indians. Baby Dolls. Jazz funerals. Anniversary events like the tenth anniversay of Katrina making landfall in Louisiana. The carnival, itself.

This is what I'm going to show. My version of the culture that is such a huge part of New Orleans. A culture that has become such a big part of me.

So. You're wondering how I'll use this money. It's expensive to print, mount, frame and glaze big pictures. Especially when there are a lot of them. All the money that you donate will go into this project.

Me? Well, I can't even begin to tell you how much this means to me. I've been working on this for over four years. To even be offered an opportunity for any kind of public display is amazing. To be offered it during what has become one of the biggest photography events in the country is even more amazing. But, I can't do it without you.
