I have watched my wonderful, kind and patient sister Lisa struggle with the pain of infertility for over ten years. I know in my heart that Lisa and Neil would be wonderful parents and that their children would have a life full of love and merriment. The reality is that they have struggled with infertility for a very long time and the next step in their long journey is IVF. I am starting this Go Fund Me in the hopes that their dreams can be realized through IVF and that someday they will have a little one to call them Mom and Dad. A few words from Lisa: "Neil and I were married in 2009 and soon after that we began our journey into building a family.
Of course I figured we were both young and healthy and would have a baby within a year. We picked out names and dreamed about our future family. Unfortunately, things have not been as smooth as we had hoped.
After a few years of no luck we started to see a specialist. We discovered that there were a few small obstacles in our way but with the right medications it seemed that we would be fine- a few more years of trying and procedures and still no luck. Since that time we have tried multiple IUI procedures and again we have been met with disappointment.
We have been pretty quiet about our struggles only sharing with close family and friends. Naturally this is not a popular topic of conversation and we were somewhat embarrassed to be having such trouble with something that seems so easy for so many others.
Along the the way we have discovered that 1 in 8 couples also struggle with infertility. We also discovered that IVF is an extremely involved and complicated process and with that come a very large price tag. It has been almost ten years since our journey has began and we have decided that it is time for this final attempt at a family. Any funds raised will be going toward medication and procedure costs.
