Giving- Future Hakusan Waldorf school in Japan

Dear community,

We are very excited to announce that we are initiating a wonderful project, creating a new Waldorf school.

Having been deeply inspired by the worldwide Waldorf 100th anniversary events, as well as all the warm and positive experiences that their children had at Vancouver Waldorf School, Chika and Hiroto Yago, who has now moved back to Japan, stood up and decided to create a school in the Hokuriku region of Japan. In this region, there is yet to be a Waldorf school to be established. They hope to not only bring Waldorf education to this region but to also create a community learning space through Anthroposophy.

Hokuriku is a region where traditional Japanese culture remains a significant part of daily life and where the coexistence of traditional art and cultures and modern culture has been cherished. In this beautiful region of vast mountains and rivers, traditional heritage and vibrant culture, we feel that this future school will open new doors to our Waldorf Community.

For this project, we are driven by potential opportunities for the Waldorf Community worldwide. We hope for the future school in Hokuriku to become another portal for global interactions between schools and communities. The natural landscape, traditional artistry and craftsmanship distinctive to this region offers a unique setting to integrate ideas of Waldorf education and anthroposophy with the culture and heritage of the Hokuriku.

Chika and Hiroto’s aspiration was and will continue to be supported by two Waldorf-trained Early Childhood Educators Sayuri Ishimoto and Noriko Ashizawa, as well as some parents. We are amidst the fundraising process by offering online classes in Japanese to raise awareness of our project and spread the Waldorf movement.

In the Hokuriku region where Waldorf education is not widely known, our first step is to spread awareness about the Waldorf movement. We're starting our journey by setting up pop-up schools in various regions and to make these schools as accessible as possible, our first priority is to acquire a company car. 
 
The main means of transportation in the Hokuriku region is by car and this is an essential part of expanding the Waldorf movement far and wide. We're planning on painting the car with our name "HWC" (Hakusan Waldorf Community), as this car will essentially become our school bus. This car will benefit families who live in hard-to-access areas, and we can reach out to even more children in the Hokuriku.
