Cancer Sucks!

Hi, my name is Liz (many of you will know me as Lizzie) and I am hosting a campaign to raise money for financial relief. As some of you may know, my Dad was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (cancer of the liver) in August of 2018 (it has since spread to his lungs), not long after undergoing corrective mesh surgery on his hernia in May of 2018.  

I grew up watching my Dad work hard for his family, no matter what. He is a master carpenter and has spent most of his days doing hard labor.  Because of his illnesses, he is no longer to able to do the difficult labor he is used to doing. He is in and out of doctor offices constantly. Thankfully, he was put on the transplant list in Houston, Texas. However, this surgery will put my Dad out of commission for up to 5 months. 

My Dad has instilled in me some of the greatest life lessons I know.  He has taught me to give with a kind heart to those in need and to always help my neighbors. My Dad has always inspired me to love with my heart on my sleeve and to always seek balance in my life. He has raised me to be tough and resilient to anything life throws at me. He has also (thankfully) taught me to find the humor in every situation. Now that I am a parent, I strive to teach my son these same lessons my Dad has taught me. I pray every day that my son will be able grow up and know the great man that I have the pleasure of calling a father. He is my greatest hero.
