Giving back to Sónia Indigo!

Dear friends,

A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit , who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me, is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares. These special humans are sometimes rare to find in this world, but every now and then people are lucky enough to come across such heroes. To us, Sónia is such a hero, who has impacted the lives of many immensely.

Frankly, it is easy to forget that heroes are sometimes in need of a little help as well. 

So this fundraising is dedicated to Sónia who deserves some love and light from the world. :-)

About Sónia:

Originally, Sónia is from Portugal but moved to Varkala, India, ten years ago. She is a single mother of two lovely little girls with 6 and 8 years old.

Amazed by the natural beauty of the area, Sónia decided to open up an Ashram with the intention to help people overcome suffering and to help them set sail into the right direction.

Whether it is through reiki healing, astrology, numerology, watsu, yoga sessions, therapeutic massages, healthy and organic meals (just to name a few) – Sónia always finds a way to positively impact the life of others.

Her selflessness and big heart towards all living beings has changed the perspective on life of many.

Many of you have stayed at Sónia’s Shakti Ashram, or met her while she was in Shiva Garden in Varkala India, as volunteers, guests, friends, students or clients, and you have seen how much warmth and kindness Sónia puts into her work. You have attended courses, therapies, circles, workshops and you can attest to Sónia’s pure intentions in everything she does. Many of you know that she was always there to give you a hand, not just daily with a smile or good advice, or the food she shared, but also sometimes she offered a discount or even a free entry to courses/events, in case you couldn't afford it at the time, and she felt you really needed it.

Sónia rejected this crowdfunding effort many times before we were able to convince her that it is OK to ask for help, especially when you have helped so many.

Sónia has not had the easiest year. In March last year, she was finally about to travel to Portugal (her home country, where she did not go for the last 7 years), to see her parents who had never met Sónia’s youngest daughter. Then, the lock down started, she was not able to travel. Unfortunately Sónia did not have the chance to say her final goodbyes to her father, who had passed away during the pandemic. Now her mother has moved to a nursing home and Sónia cannot afford to travel with her daughters.

What Sónia needs our help with:

With India being one of the most severely hit countries by the Corona Virus, it is impossible for Sónia to sustain her Ashram. The expenses are too high and unfortunately the revenue is too low (as she can no longer take in guests and create healing sessions and events in her Ashram) which resulted in her having to take on her savings and take debts in order to keep on radiating her healing energies and to care for her two beautiful daughters.

Another very important aspect for creating this fundraising is that we want to help Sónia travel back to her home country Portugal with her two daughters in order to see her 84-year old mother maybe for the final time, since she has only recently moved into a nursing home.

So if you are in a position to help, now is the time to give back. 

Your help will allow Sónia to:

 - Keep the Ashram until travel resumes and launch new online projects that would allow her to spread her healing work beyond local limitations and regardless of tourism suspensions  (launch the 3rd version of her website, online courses, books, video content on her YouTube channel and blog).

- Pay off her debts and travel to Portugal with her two daughters to (maybe for the final time) see her mother who has never met her younger daughter. 

We are asking from the bottom of our heart to all get together and show Sónia that kindness goes both ways, and show her that there are many tiny heroes spread across the globe.
