ዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ 2ኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት በ1961 ዓም የተመሰረተ ሲሆን፣የትምህርት ቤቱ መከፈተም በደብረታቦርና አካባቢዋ የነበረውን የሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ችግር የፈታ ነበር። ዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት አገልግሎት በሰጠባቸው 50 ዓመታት በ አሥር ሽዎች ለሚቆጠሩ ተማሪዎች የሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ዕድልን ፈጥሯል። ዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ከመከፈቱ በፊት፣ የ8ኛ ክፍል ትምህርታቸውን 23 ዓመት ቀድሞ ስራ ከጀመረው ዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ አንደኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ያጠናቀቁ ተማሪዎች፣ የሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርታቸውን ለመከታተል፣ ከደብረታቦር ጎንደር ከተማ ለሁለት ቀን ተኩል በእግራቸው ይጓዙ ነበር። በዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት የተመረቁ በርካታ ቁጥር ያላቸው ተማሪዎች በሀገር አቀፉ የሁለተኛ ደረጃ መልቀቂያ ፈተና ከፍተኛ ውጤት አስመዝገበው፣ በአገር ውስጥና በውጭ አገራት በሚገኙ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት ትምህርታቸውን ተከታትለው በተለያዩ የሙያ ዘርፎች ተመርቀዋል።
በአሁኑ ሰዓት ዳግማዊ ቴዎድሮስ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት የመማር ማስተማር ሂደቱን የሚጎዱ በርካታ ችግሮች ሰለባ ነው። ያረጁና ዕድሳት የሚሹ ሕንፃዎች ቁጥራቸው በርካታ ነው። የመማሪያ ክፍሎች እጥረትና የሳይንስና ኮምፒዉተር ቤተሙከራዎች እጥረት በመማር ማስተማር ሂደቱ ላይ የተደቀኑ ሌሎች እንቅፋቶች ናቸው። ትምህርት ቤቱ የተመሰረተበትን 50ኛ ዓመት ለማክበር በዝግጅት ላይ ባለበት በአሁኑ ሰዓት፣ ከትምህርት ቤቱ በርካታ ችግሮች አንዱ የሆነውን የቤተሙከራ ክፍሎችና መሳሪያወች እጥረት ለመቅረፍ የሚያስችል፣ ስድስት የሳይንስ ቤተሙከራ ክፍሎች ሁለት የኮምፒውተር ቤተሙከራ ክፍሎችና አንድ ሁለገብ አዳራሽ ያሉት ባለሁለት ፎቅ ሕንፃ ለመስራት ታቅዷል። ይህ ምስሉ ከላይ የተመለከተው ሕንፃ የ50ኛ ዓመት ክብረ በዓሉ በሚከበርበት ጥር 9 እና 10/ 2012 ዓም አስመርቆ ለመክፈት ዕቅድ ተይዟል። ለሕንፃ ማሰሪያ የሚያስፈልገው የገንዘብ መጠን እስከ 15 ሚሊዬን ብር ሊፈጅ እንደሚችል የተገመተ ሲሆን፣ ትክክለኛው የገንዘብ መጠን በባለሙያወች እየተጠና ያለና ዉጤቱም በቅርብ የሚገለጽ ይሆናል። ለሕንፃው ማሰሪያ የሚሆነውን ገንዘብ ለማግኘት የታሰበው በአገር ውስጥና በውጭ በሚኖሩ የትምህርት ቤቱ የቀድሞ ተማሪዎች፣መምህራንና በትምህርት በሚያምኑ ሌሎች ኢትዮጵያውያን በማያደርጉት የገንዘብ አስተዋጽኦ ነው።
የትምህርት ቤታችን 50ኛ ዓመት መከበርና የክብረ በዓሉ ምልክት የሆነውን ባለሁለት ፎቅ ሕንፃ የመስራት ሃሳብ የሰማን በአሜሪካ፣ ካናዳ፣ አውሮፓና አውስትራሊያ የምንኖር የትምህርት ቤቱ የቀድሞ ተማሪዎችና የአካባቢው ተወላጆች ተሰባስበን በቀድሞ ተማሪዎች ስም በተከፈተ፤ የቫይበር ቡድንና በስልክ ከተወያየን በኋላ፣ በተለያዩአገራትና አህጉራት ተበትነው የሚኖሩ የትምህርት ቤቱን ተማሪዎች ለመድረስና የገንዘብ ድጋፍ አሰጣጡን ቀሊልና ቀልጣፋ ለማድረግ ይህን የጎፈንድሚየሂሳብ ቁጥር ከፍተናል። ሁላችንም ይህን የተቀደሰ ዓላማ ግብ ለማድረስ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ በማድረግ አሻራችን እንድናሳርፍና የትምህርት ቤታችን የወርቅ ኢዩቤልዩ በዓል ያመቻቸልንን ወርቃማ ዕድል እንድንጠቀም አደራ አለብን። የዚህ ታሪካዊ የገንዘብ ድጋፍ አካል በመሆነዎት ኮርተንበወታል፣ ልባዊ ምስጋናችንም ባሉበት ይድረስዎ!!! መረጃውን ለሌች ማድረስወን አይርሱ!

Founded in 1969 and served as the only high school in Debretabor for many years that followed, Tewodros II Secondary School opened doors for tens of thousands of students who didn’t have access to secondary school education. Before the establishment of Twodros II Secondary, students from a nearby namesake school, Tewodros II Elementary used to travel by foot for two and half days to the city of Gondar and stayed there during the school season attending post-eighth-grade education. In its 50 years long service, Tewodros II Secondary has produced a significant number of outstanding students who were able to join colleges and universities in Ethiopia and abroad and graduated in various fields of studies.
Currently, the school has multiple problems that adversely affect the teaching and learning process. Most of the buildings in the school are old and haven't been maintained for a long time. There are no adequate science laboratories and related equipment. There is no computer laboratory in the school.
Amid all the problems the school currently encounters, there is hope on the horizon. The school is being groomed to celebrate its Golden Jubilee anniversary with the festivity is scheduled to take place on January 18 and 19, 2020. The anniversary celebration organizing committee in Debretabor plans to tackle part of the school’s challenges by constructing a two-story building that will serve as a flagship achievement of the anniversary. The building pictured above is designed to house six science laboratories, two IT laboratories, and an auditorium. While engineers are still working on the cost estimate details of the building with the final report expected to be released in the coming weeks, the organizers expect the building to cost up to 15 million birr. To help finance the project, the anniversary organizers plan to raise money from school alumni, former teachers, and other Ethiopians.
After we heard the news about our school’s 50th anniversary celebration and the flagship project, Some of us alumni who live in America, Canada , Europe and Australia started discussing the issue on alumni Viber groups and on teleconferences and came up with the idea of opening this gofundme account to make it easier for all alumni, teachers and friends of the school who live in different countries and continents to take part in the anniversary celebration by donating cash towards the proposed project. We believe that this is a golden opportunity for all of us to give back to the school that we all are grateful for and make the 50th anniversary a moment that we all can write our history and engrave our names on this marvelous structure. We invite all Tewodros II secondary alumni, former teachers, friends and other people who believe in education to be part of this historic fundraising effort and to share this information with others.
