Giving Back To Our Neighbor Joe

You know our neighbor Joe.  He has been a light in so many of our days in northeast Hoboken.  So many have asked about his well being since this pandemic has hit, and wanting to know how to support him.   

Joe has greeted us each morning and evening with his smile and warmth at the uptown ferry and other locations in our neighborhood, offering a friendly hello or good night, and cold water on hot days.   Like many, he too has been negatively impacted by COVID with the ferry ridership all but non existent and many of our supportive neighbors either away or working from home.

I speak with Joe regularly and recently he told me that it has been incredibly difficult to make ends meet.  His disability check basically covers his rent, but leaves room for little extra including his cable which affords him much of his joy as an avid sports fan.   I asked him how much he would need if our neighbors and friends came together and help, and he said just $240/month would make all the difference in his world and help get him through the winter and hopefully the end of the pandemic.

I think we can easily make this difference for him.
 
For now, I have set a goal for $3,000.  This would effectively allow us to give him the support that would help make his life a little easier through next summer when hopefully all our lives are back to normal and we can all see Joe again at the ferry.
