About Monica

Monica Wood is a beloved P.E. teacher and a constant inspiration to others. She gives more of her heart, her time, her patience, her effort, her kindness, and her whole self to students than seems possible.   The children learn cooperative play, good sportsmanship, how to handle disappointment with grace, and how their very existence makes the world a better place. Monica knows each child at school and each child feels valued and supported.  They know Ms. Wood always has their backs.



Why the GoFundMe Campaign for Monica


It's time to turn that around.   A chunk of the disc on Monica's lower vertebra has fragmented from its proper place and this vibrant, energetic woman is unable to maneuver without a walker and is in constant excruciating pain!   She is facing serious spinal surgery, including spinal fusion.  Due to "red tape" , it is unclear what will be covered through insurance, though, at this point, it looks like insurance won't cover nearly enough for Monica to have the surgery without facing severe financial difficulty.

Extended recovery time  and rehabilitation is expected.
