Giving back to a true Veterans Hero

Giving back to a true Veteran’s Hero!

There are few people in this world who help our veteran community like Le Ann Dunne.  From helping veterans find their new home or their first home to networking with other vet’s in the construction, flooring, finishing, painting etc., all to make their new home as perfect for them as possible, and at the same time allowing us to help our brothers and sisters in arms and boost veteran owned businesses.

Le Ann volunteers with Wreaths Across America, the 9/11 Memorial Service at Coldwell Banker Real Estate, the Tribute to Veterans at the Johnson County Fair Grounds, numerous veteran’s walks and remembrances, Fight with Flash, Light the Night and so many more veteran’s charities and fund raisers that it’s impossible to count.

But it doesn’t stop there! Le Ann has gone out of her way to get vet’s back on their feet by helping them find jobs in the real estate industry, even going as far a paying for their classes, tests, hotel rooms and even providing them with a laptop if needed. And all of this with money out of her own pocket.

With all the positive that Le Ann has brought into our veteran community it’s hard to think that a vet is the reason that I am asking for your donation.

In late 2015, Le Ann took a vet under her wing that was down on his luck and started him down the road to becoming a real estate agent. Le Ann, again paying his way out of her own pocket. As time went by they became closer friends and a one-sided trust was formed on Le Ann’s part. It was about this time that the vet became interested in motorcycles and as fate would have it Le Ann knew of the family of a fallen soldier who had bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle while back on leave from Iraq but was killed in action upon his return to the combat zone.

Le Ann, being who she is, figured she could help two veterans at once; the financially struggling family of the fallen soldier and the vet she was trying to help. So, after drawing up a signed agreement with the vet that he would pay her back Le Ann went forward with the deal.

As time went on Le Ann was not receiving the payments as promised. Even the girlfriend of the vet said that she had been loaning him the money to pay Le Ann back. Ultimately it was learned in his overdose death that he had been spending both his tuition money from Le Ann and the money from the girlfriend that was Le Ann’s repayment on drugs.

At this point Le Ann’s only way to recoup some of her losses was to sell the motorcycle at considerable loss. Once again, Le Ann called on the veterans that she had helped in the past to help with this task. The motorcycle passed between a couple of vets trying to help. Then on July 27th the motorcycle was stolen outside of the American Legion in North Liberty and ultimately totaled by the uninsured rider with no license.

This is where we stand now. No repayment from the vet, no insurance to cover the totaled motorcycle and biggest advocate for veterans that I know, who has given her time, her heart and even her own money to veterans is left struggling herself. All because she was just doing what she always does… HELPING VETERANS!

So now I bring this to you, my fellow brother and sister veterans and anyone with the heart and passion to help vets as Le Ann has, LET'S MAKE THIS RIGHT! I have posted the amount at $15,000.00, however this still does not cover all that she has invested in our community. I want to show Le Ann that her efforts have not gone unnoticed and that we take care of our own and those who take care of us like she has. No amount is too little (or too big), but I do ask that you pass this story along through YOUR veteran network and promote it with all the heart that she has for us. Because we all know that at this time in our country, having people like Le Ann Dunne supporting us is hard to come by!
