#GIVETIMAIR! Timothy “Tim” Rucker. Tim’s triumph over trial! My brother, Tim Rucker, who is only 43 years of age, is going through a huge trial at this time. But with our help, he will be triumphant in his journey. Tim is in need of a Double Lung Transplant. His doctors have told him that he is in the 6 month window for the transplant. The transplant will take place in Charleston, SC. He will undergo the transplant at the MUSC-Ashley-Rivers Towers Surgical Center. The stay from the onset of the transplant will be approximately 3 months, without complications. Tim has one of the BEST surgical teams offered in the southeast. He has been diagnosed with, NSIP-Non Specific Interstitial Lung Disease. NSIP is a rare disorder that affects the tissue that surrounds the tiny air sacs of the lungs. These tiny air sacs called the alveoli are where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place between the lungs and the bloodstream. Tim needs $11,000.00 up front for the transplant alone to be performed. This does not include any medications that will be administered. The cost of one of the medications will be $700.00 a month but there will be other medications he will need as well. He will be taking a total of 19 pills per day. He will also need money for 24 hour care for up to 3 months and traveling to and from Charleston. Tim has always been very active but these days he has been limited as to what he can do. It is a struggle for him to walk any distance without becoming very tired and out of breath. Tim has always been energetic and one that loves life but this disease has slowed him down tremendously. Although he has always been an outdoorsman, he is no longer able to do his own yard work. Since the diagnosis in 2011, he has progressively gotten worse and been limited in his daily activities. He is a sports fanatic and is an avid Gamecocks Football Fan! He likes to watch the Carolina Gamecocks and cheer them on. He loves them Win, Lose or Draw and doesn’t like to miss a game whether by television or radio. He is a dedicated fan for sure. Tim loves his family and plays a huge role in his nieces and nephews lives. Tim has always given to those in need whether it is in giving his time or money...he gives unselfishly. Tim has a great zest for life and has much left to offer to his family, church, and community. Tim’s faith in God is what has brought him this far and he will continue to trust God to bring him through this trial as well. Fulfilling God’s Plan and Purpose for his life is most important to him.
