New Eyes for a Perfect Dog

Donation protected
Hi Everyone, My Name is Mary and this is a project to raise money for cataract surgery for a very special dog named Princess.
Here she is her first day!

Growing puppy excited about her new owner!

Princess started life as most Aussi puppies do.  She grew up on a wonderful working farm and then was adopted to what she thought would be her forever home.  She studied obedience, was best in her class, and started to learn herding.  Mostly she loved her owner and her home.

Now She is a five year old Austrailian Shepherd who in the past 8 months acutely lost her vision to cataracts. Some Austrailian Shepherd dogs develop cataracts when they are 5 or 6 years of age.  No one expected this least of all Princess.  Last spring her eyes began to change, and with that her life also changed.  Her owner was distressed but hoped that her vision would stabilize.  Unfortunately her cataracts progressed rapidly and she went from restricted vision to very limited eyesight.

This last week She was surrendered by her owner who was overwhelmed by her sudden blindness and the cost of lens replacement surgery.  Not every home is capable of taking care of a dog that is blind, or capable of reaching out to seek assistance with a major medical expense.  So not only did Princess lose her eyesight unexpectedly, she lost her home.

That's where I stepped in.  I am a retired/disabled veterinarian who has worked with and owned Aussies most of my life.  I have the time, expereince, and patience to work with her needs and the medical journey that will be needed to be taken to restore her eyesight.  I understand what it means to have an abrupt life change and how we sometimes need to rely on hlep from our friends and relatives to get through an unexpected medical transistion.  Lucky for Princess I have a great network of friends who are not only dog lovers but generous of heart and pocketbook.  I know that all of you beleive that together we can make a big effort to effect life saving change because you made the difference in me surviving my life change as well as those of others that needed our help.

Now she has a new wonderful home. Princess and I are asking you to help us raise money for her surgery so that her vision can be restored and her life returned to that of a dog that loves to run and play outside.

There is an optimal time window for her surgery and it is now.

Princess just had her eyes examined by the veterinary opthalomologist yesterday.  Her retinas were tested and her eyes were also examined with ultrasound.  She scored with the best results possible which are excellent! for her to be a candidate for cataract removal and lens replacement surgery.   It is important to have her surgery while her eyes continue to be at the best health possible.  This surgery has a very high success rate and can provide her with normal vision for the rest of her natural life.  We need to raise $2800.00 within the next three weeks.  I am so confident that we can do this I am only going to accept the funds when and if we raise the entire amount during that time window.  This will cover the cost of cataract removal and lens replacement surgery on both eyes as well as her medications and rechecks.  TOGETHER, WE CAN DO THIS!

Now all she needs is for you to help her with the funding to raise the money for her new eyes.  Please give what you can, and give generously for this wonderful perfect dog.   Please pass on her story to your friends so that they can also be a part of her new vision and her new life.

Thank you for helping Princess with her eyes  we "Look forward" to your support.
