Sad news tonight: October 3, 2019 from Verhanika:
Andrew Lon Willhelm, husband, Papa, brother, son, died at 6:01pm.

What a gift that we all got to share the earth with him.
=======================================================

It has been almost two years since Andy, Verhanika and their beautiful Ronan, began this difficult cancer journey, with so many of you by their sides.  As she's done throughout these past 22+ months, Verhanika has continued to post online with updates, with her most recent one posted this past Monday, September 9th. Please take a moment to read this latest update here: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewwillhelm/journal

Did you click on the link, then see just the title of 'Hospice', and it took your breath away? I know I speak for many of us when I say that no matter where we are now, we have seen what real bravery and courage look like in the form of two very special, almost super-human individuals. That they can share themselves, this journey, with all of us, while continuing to work and contribute to our community, are still able to laugh and hug and love and bring joy to us all, is itself a miracle. But I think we all felt those super-human qualities would last forever.

But V's post on Monday reminds us of the reality: "So here we are. Tying up some loose ends before getting this going. And by “this” I mean Andy dying."

So, I come to you all once more, and ask you to dip into your pockets, break open some piggy banks, and consider giving whatever you can to help this beautiful family. They are our friends, our family, and they shouldn't have to worry about finances as they spend this precious time together.

Throughout this entire journey, Andy and V were determined to make their life together with Ronan rich, happy, and filled with love. That continues to this moment of this day. And together we can make sure the moments and memories they make through the rest of their days together are not clouded by financial worry.

Despite their worries, their fears, and everything they have been through these past 22+ months, they continue to stay so incredibly strong.  Their strength through this journey has been utterly inspiring.

No amount is too small - every single penny counts.

As part of The Willhelm Army, where will your donations go? To continuing childcare, to paying bills, and to providing some security for Verhanika and Ronan moving forward. But mostly, to help set Andy's mind at ease, and make their remaining time together a celebration of their love, their family, and their friends.

If you have questions, ping me and we will get you answers.

And if you wish to read more about their journey these past two years, please visit: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/andrewwillhelm/journal. Verhanika has kept a running journal chronicling their experiences, and includes regular updates. It's an emotional testament, sharing the challenges, the love, the frustrations, and even the lighthearted moments that come with a cancer journey.

Thank you for being part of our fundraising efforts for The Willhelm Family. We appreciate you. We thank you. We love you!

With love from Command Central for The Willhelm Army!
