Give Trent Another Chance

Donation protected
Trent was found on the streets of Trenton, NJ (hence his name). Rescued 7/31 by Trenton Animal Control, and "special released" from CARES animal hospital 8/1 to yours truly. Our living together is only temporary, and he is now up for adoption. Since he is mostly healed, I am attempting to find him a permanent, happy, safe home...

For a few videos of him, please watch his YouTube videos .

Since this was a "special release," I do not have the assistance of a foster program, shelter, or rescue group. But I pledged to do everything in my power get him better first.  I love him dearly already, but I cannot keep him for several reasons. All that matters is that his last years on this earth are a billion times better than his last 8-10.

The challenges so far are as follows:

1) severely emaciated (weighs 60lbs, but should be between 80-90) - as of 10/2, weighs 69 pounds.
2) massive parasite infestation: fleas, worms, etc. (currently being treated; needs to be dewormed again 2 weeks from 8/1) - fully dewormed as of mid-August
3) severely allergic to fleas and has bad skin irritation and loss of hair from the infestations - Apoquel is helping, but further help needed. Trying a hypoallergenic Rx food starting 10/2.
4) has a rock and screw in his stomach - the screw passed through; the rock was regurgitated 9/2.
5) has a UTI - effectively treated as of mid-September.
6) needs to be neutered - neutered 8/29.
7) has an enlarged prostate (may be due to not being neutered, so hopefully that fixes it) - prostate has shrunk a bit. Less swelling on hind end since neuter.
8) has several small tumors on body - 2 removed; 1 was "low grade" mast cell tumor. Likely need to remove 2 more.
9) needs ALL vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordatella) - done.
10) needs flea/tick/heartworm medications - obtained
11) possibly hard of hearing, as far as I can tell (will get him checked out for a possible inner ear problem when we see the vet in a few days) - confirmed by vet he is 100% deaf.
12) Nasty ear infection - treated
13) needs 2 teeth and a lump on his gums removed (will hopefully be completed during neuter) - done
14) Possible hip issues (will know more when he has more muscle mass & strength back) - has hip dysplasia
15) Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) or Canine Influenza Virus - exam completed 10/2. Trying antibiotics now to see if clears up. If not, chest x-rays are needed to be sure it's not pneumonia.

He's eating quite well and drinking regularly. He had a bath the morning of 8/2, and loved it, especially the towel drying part.

This is a massive financial undertaking, and I'm likely in way over my head which is why I need some help. I am working on getting an estimate for his upcoming medical hurdles, but my best guess so far is between $2000-2500 at least. I will update with receipt totals for all expenses, and anything extra will be given to a local animal shelter if I don't need it all for Trent's care.

Every dollar helps this poor guy get a little better.

Already donated: Dog bed, dog crate, and baby gate, lots of treats! - THANK YOU!! <3

Expenses so far (to be updated after each vet visit):
General dog necessities 8/1/17 (leash, collar, gentle leader, treats, kong, soap, bed (turned out to be too small), poop bags, etc.): $134.00 paid
Returned gentle leader: +$29.99 credit
Veterinarian visit #1 on 8/2/17 & visit #2 on 8/9/17: $332.67 paid
Vet visit #3 on 8/23 (summarized below): $402.95 paid
-----visit #3 included: Bordetella vaccine, distemper booster, urinalysis, urine culture, prescription food, Apoquel (for itching/allergies), Carprofen (NSAID for joint pain), Drontal (final dewormer). CBC (check for hematocrit levels; went from 16% on 8/2 to 26% on 8/23!).
Vet visit #4, 5, and 6 [Aug. 29- Sept 6] (summarized below): $1,655.84 paid on 10/2
-----------#4: Neuter, dental (2 broken teeth removed), 2 lumps removed (one "low grade" mast cell tumor), numerous medications, etc.
----------#5: pain medications
----------#6: allergy meds & food
Total spent so far (updated 10/2): $2,495.47

Vet visit #7 was 10/2 - emergency visit:

He now has either an upper respiratory infection, or canine influenza. He has green snot coming out of his nose, he's coughing, and his breathing is labored, along with a lack of appetite and he's pretty lethargic. Total cost of this visit is $202.28 before discount. With discount, it will be about $161.82 (i get about 20% off most things).  He was given a round of antibiotics, a cough suppressant, and we are trying a new food because his allergies are still pretty severe. He has licked & chewed his feet raw.
I will be updating the GoFundMe goal to $2,650.

UPCOMING POSSIBLE PROCEDURES:
1) About 1.5 weeks after his dental, he broke another tooth that will require removal eventually. Right now, I am out of funds to take care of that and he hasn't started to bother him. The cost for this will be about $600-700.
2) Because 1 of his removed lumps was a "low grade" mast cell tumor, it is recommended that his two other suspicious lumps be removed (one on his right ribs, and the other on his back left leg).  No estimate on this as of yet.
