FOUR WAYS TO GIVE - TO GIVE HOPE
The 17th of October 2020 is the International Day to Eradicate Poverty. The Guardian of the Children Foundation, along with the Albanian City of Pogradec and local businesses are supporting a sixty (60) day fundraising drive to help orphan children in the fight against poverty. You can help in one, or all, of the following ways to give hope.
1. Donate a 25-kilogram box of basic essential foods, such as rice, flour, oil, pasta, sauce, beans, etc. - $18.00 USD for one (1) box, or $90.00 USD for five (5) boxes. One hundred and fifty boxes of basic essential foods are needed for the orphans.
Jurgen, a volunteer, carried this box up a very steep hill to give to two (2) orphans!!!
2. Donate $60.00 for a pair of glasses for an orphan. Dr. Feraizi of Korce has volunteered to perform an eye examination for up to 60 orphans, at no cost. Following the exam, a decision will be made as to whether a prescription for glasses is needed, or if the visual problem can be corrected using a pair of over-the-counter glasses. The Guardian of the Children Foundation desires to provide eye examinations for up to 60 orphans.
3. Donate $60.00 for an orphan to visit the dentist. Dr. Mertiri of Pogradec will give each orphan a dental exam, then, as needed, remove tooth decay, fill cavities, repair fractured teeth, provide a thorough teeth cleaning, and teach oral hygiene. The Guardian of the Children Foundation desires to provide dental examinations for up to 60 orphans.
4. Donate $40.00 for one meter of dry wood. The orphans primarily live in homes where the source of heat is a wood burning fireplace or stove. It gets very cold in Pogradec and it snows as well. The Guardian of the Children Foundation has a goal to provide one meter of dry wood for 150 orphan homes.
