My Granddaughter's beloved, horse, Goose, is currently at Virginia Tech. After a long battle with an infected wound, a CT of his head found that the reason why he has been miserable and not eating is because of an infected right temporomandibular joint (that joint that opens when you chew). The only treatment for him is to remove the mandibular condyle (the bit of bone that makes up the joint). Horses that have this surgery do well and go on to live many more years. The surgery is expensive. A large portion of the anticipated cost is required to be paid before Goose can have this surgery, he so desperately needs.
