Hi, I am setting up this anonymous fundraiser on behalf of my friend O who cannot publicly raise funds for top surgery themselves for personal reasons.
A bit about O!
O is a non-binary trans artist and a BIG driving force in London's queer and trans communities. They have been active in London as an organiser and musician for the past 4 years. Their dynamic, warm and innovative presence adds so much to London's queer nightlife. As well as being a performer themselves O hosts and organises events that showcase upcoming trans musicians and artists. They work tirelessly to support, platform and promote trans talent in London.
Why fund raise?
We are currently raising funds for O's much needed and long desired top surgery - a surgery that would be life changing for O. It would enable them to live a free-er, more joyous existence and help alleviate a crushing struggle. O wishes they didn't have to ask an already embattled, exhausted community for financial help but they have made the hard decision to seek help to achieve their goal. This gender affirming surgery is what O needs and deserves. And as a community we can help them access it.
Action plan
This fundraiser will firstly be circulated throughout O's networks i.e the queer spaces they collaborate with and the performers they work alongside. We will then share it more widely.
How much?
NB: please prioritise fundraisers for QTIBPOC trans folk before donating to this one.
O is asking for enough money to cover a consultation with a surgeon, the top surgery itself and some further costs to alleviate financial stress during a period in which they will be unable to work. They are hoping to cover costs of additional COVID testing and any aftercare/prescriptions necessary.
Initial consultation: £150
Surgery fee: 7,000
Aftercare/Prescriptions: £200
Time off art commission work: £200
Food: £100
COVID testing additional cost: £30
