Give Nanna Dot her final wish!

Hi Everyone,

 

A couple of weeks ago, my family lost our beautiful, classy, independent and caring Nanna Dot (Dorothy Heins, to others).

 

Nanna Dot was a rock in our family. We all admire her so much and miss her terribly already!

 

For as long as I can remember, I've known that she wanted to donate her body to science when she passed. Her family could never afford to give her the education she would have so cherished. Knowing her grandchildren have opportunities she didn't, she always encouraged us to pursue education to become intelligent, independent and self-sufficient women! For my university graduation she gave me a necklace with the infinity symbol on it, which she said represented lifelong learning.

 

By donating her body to science, Nanna Dot hoped to contribute to the education of individuals who would go onto help others, who would help others who would help others...

 

Despite being meticulously organised in making sure this would happen (like she was about everything in her life), the circumstances of her death meant the donation wasn't possible. Nanna sacrificed so much for others throughout her life, it is heart-breaking that she wasn't able to fulfil the one thing that meant so much to her.

 

As a way of allowing Nanna Dot her legacy, we are raising money to make a donation in her name to the Smith Family.

The Smith Family help disadvantaged Australian children and young people get the most out of education so they can create better futures for themselves and break the cycle of disadvantage.

 

Nanna Dot was a member of the Adelaide West VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) Club for 20 years, raising money for the Smith Family. She was always rushing to bake something delicious for VIEW club so I know she would approve of the cause.

 

To help us honour this incredible lady, please donate! Any amount, no matter how small will be so greatly appreciated. Not only would it make our beloved Nanna Dot feel so proud and accomplished, it will benefit kids, their families and potentially generations to come!
