<div>This is one of the hardest things I have ever written, but my heart tells me I must try. My brother is 24 years old and has suffered from epilepsy since he was a little child. Growing up in a remote village, our parents never took him to hospitals. They believed there was no cure and turned to traditional remedies instead. All these years, he has lived with his illness without ever receiving proper medical treatment. As a child, seizures would strike him 1-2 times a week.

<div>Over the years, they became less frequent, but now when they come, they last much longer and are terrifying to witness. He has fallen and hit his head many times, leaving permanent injuries. One of his eyes has already lost much of its vision. His teeth are badly damaged from years of seizures and a lack of proper care. He lives with constant pain in his mouth, swollen gums, and sleepless nights, yet most dentists are too afraid to take on his case. All this time, I feel guilty that I could not help him sooner.

<div>He has suffered in silence for so long, and I carry the weight of knowing that my brother deserved better. Now, I just want to give him a chance at a different life. I want to take him to a specialist neurologist, so he can finally start medication and treatment that might give him relief. I also want to take him to a dentist who can restore his teeth and free him from his daily pain. For a short time, he used to receive a small disability support allowance of just €90 per month, but even that has now been taken away. Today, he has no financial support at all, and we struggle to provide even the basics he needs.

Duke u rritur në një fshat të largët, prindërit tanë nuk e çuan kurrë në spitale. Ata besonin se nuk kishte shërim dhe u drejtuan te mjekimet tradicionale. Gjatë gjithë këtyre viteve, ai ka jetuar me sëmundjen e tij pa marrë kurrë trajtim të duhur mjekësor.Që fëmijë, krizat e kapnin 1–2 herë në javë. Me kalimin e viteve, ato u bënë më të rralla, por tani kur ndodhin, zgjasin shumë më tepër dhe janë të tmerrshme për t’u parë. Ai ka rënë dhe është goditur në kokë shumë herë, duke lënë pasoja të përhershme. Njëri nga sytë e tij tashmë ka humbur pjesën më të madhe të shikimit. Dhëmbët i janë dëmtuar rëndë nga vitet me kriza dhe mungesa e kujdesit të duhur. Ai jeton me dhimbje të vazhdueshme në gojë, mishra të fryrë dhe net pa gjumë, ndërsa shumica e dentistëve kanë frikë të merren me rastin e tij. Gjatë gjithë kësaj kohe, unë ndihem fajtor që nuk munda ta ndihmoja më herët. Ai ka vuajtur në heshtje për kaq gjatë, dhe unë mbaj peshën e të diturit se vëllai im e meritonte diçka më të mirë. Tani, thjesht dua t’i jap një shans për një jetë ndryshe.Dua ta çoj tek një neurolog specialist, në mënyrë që më në fund të fillojë medikamentet dhe trajtimin që mund t’i sjellin lehtësim. Dua gjithashtu ta çoj tek një dentist që mund t’i rikthejë dhëmbët dhe ta çlirojë nga dhimbja e përditshme. Për një kohë të shkurtër, ai merrte një ndihmë të vogël invaliditeti prej vetëm 90 € në muaj, por edhe ajo tashmë i është hequr. Sot, ai nuk ka asnjë mbështetje financiare dhe ne mezi arrijmë t’i sigurojmë gjërat më të nevojshme.
