Give Jiah a Hand

Donation protected
So, “it could happen to anyone,” right? Guess who got lucky!

On the night of December 12, after a busy day of locksmithing and dance rehearsals, Jiah made it to DIA to catch a late flight to attend her cousin's wedding that weekend in California. When she tried to catch her backpack from falling, it caught her right ring finger instead and fractured it into multiple displaced pieces!

Well she didn't make it to the wedding, and is now recovering post-surgery with a 1.3mm plate and SEVEN screws that are holding her bones together. (She has long fingers!)

Needless to say, a trauma like this in any finger of your dominant hand will greatly affect your ability to perform any task at all, let alone those related to locksmithing- which is what Jiah does for a living. She started her own business in 2011 that she has been running as a one-woman operation, but is currently unable to work as she needs to be non-weightbearing with her right hand for at least eight weeks. She is also unable to play music or dance, and had to bow out of performing in the gothic rock opera Lost Walks, in which she has been actively involved for the last year to help raise awareness and funds for wolf sanctuaries in Colorado.

Even though Jiah has health insurance, the ridiculously high deductible does not cover all of the surgery and treatments, including months of occupational therapy. So that’s what we need help with.
Jiah would like to expand her business to empower women and continue to change the narrative, but right now her focus needs to be on her recovery which could take up to a year. Together, we can pitch in to help Jiah with the heavy financial burden of this minor mishap. If you are in a position to make a donation, no matter how big or small, we would be crazy grateful for your generosity and ability to help us. But if you aren't, sharing her gofundme story could help a lot too :)

Jiah, also known as Christine, hails from Los Angeles but now resides in Denver, and is grateful for her family and community everywhere. She has performed all over the U.S. and parts of Europe. In her travels as a journalist and cosmonaut, she found the truth, beauty and inspiration that she continues to infuse into her music, dance, and life today. She aims to share her journey to help and inspire others. Let's help this beaming lady fly again!
