My entire world was turned upside down when Beans had to undergo emergency surgery in early February to attempt to remove and biopsy a large tumor on the roof of her mouth. It seemed to have appeared overnight—barely three months after she had already undergone a major procedure: Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) surgery.
Beans just turned seven years old, and I am not ready to give up on her. Barely a month ago, she was a happy, bouncy pup. But overnight, everything changed—she became extremely lethargic and began profusely bleeding from her mouth and nose.
In the few weeks since discovering her tumor, we’ve had countless vet visits, consultations with oncologists, and tests, including CT scans, to determine our treatment options. To be blunt, it’s a steep hill to climb—I have already spent approximately $12,500 on her medical bills since November 2024.
Beans has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer), which extends from the roof of her mouth through her nasal passage. She needs five rounds of stereotactic radiation, which will cost just under $14,000.
The good news is that her oncologist is optimistic—if we move forward with the aggressive radiation treatments suggested, there is a very good chance of full remission. Of course, nothing is guaranteed when it comes to cancer, but this gives us hope.
Normally, I am too proud to ask for help. Everything Beans and I have in life has been earned through hard work. But my pride is not worth letting her suffer or shortening her life. I would never forgive myself if I didn’t try every single thing I could—including asking for help.
I also know that, unfortunately, some people take advantage of kindness on platforms like this. To be as transparent as possible, I have attached a link where I will be uploading as many of Beans’ medical bills/records as I can find (with personal information redacted for obvious reasons), along with some of my favorite photos of her.
I’m not usually someone who asks for help, so I honestly don’t know what to expect with this “shot in the dark.” But even if you’ve read this far and aren’t able to donate, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share the link and send hopes, prayers, or good vibes our way. Every bit of support is truly appreciated.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this—and a HUGE thank you to anyone who donates or shares.
With hope and gratitude,
Ash & Beans
