Give More Music To Grandparents, Please

Hello! We are The Irving Sisters  (Linden Huebner, Elise LaBarge + Sarah Simmons) and we love sharing music from the 1940s and 50s with senior living communities. We formed as a professional group in 2015, and have been singing 3-part harmonies with one another ever since.

 

If we had our way, we'd perform with our band for every senior residence in the country. The shift of energy from when we arrive to when we start making music is profound - individuals who can't remember much are suddenly transported to a happy time. They begin interacting with one another and us, they move their bodies and they smile.

 

Caretakers and family members smile, too.

In 2018, an individual donor attended one of our senior center concerts and was so taken by the experience that he immediately offered to fund a 10 concert tour in the city of Chicago. With that financial support, we were able to appear with our band at some of the city's most underfunded living centers for aging adults. We reached over 300 individuals residing in communities that simply do not have a budget for live music. We brought them out of their mental and physical isolation for the duration of a concert. We watched them clap and sing. We listened to them laugh.
 
We want to do it again.

During these 12 days leading up to Christmas, we are asking: will you help us keep the joy of the Christmas season going all year? It costs $750 to present each concert featuring The Irving Sisters with a band. We intend to bring music to at least 8 senior centers this year, but we need your support. Will you make a personal gift and help transport our older generations to a happy time? 

 

We promise we'll share photos of and stories about the moments you help create. It won't be enough to properly thank you for your part in making the concerts happen, but you'll get to see how important your gift of live music is for the aging mind and spirit.
