Hello from Laurie at Willy's Wings.

I received a call the other day requesting to surrender a 7-8 year old Blue and Gold macaw, with disabilities. Her name is Gabby, and here is her sad story.

About a year ago, this nice lady took Gabby in from her rescuer, who also had Gabby for about a year or so. She was rescued from a very abusive house, where she sustained a broken right wing and right leg. Gabby was never taken to the vet to have them corrected, and now she has severe disabilities. She has no use of that right wing and walks on the side of her right foot. She is having difficulty perching, is unable to fly, and walks with quite a limp.

Gabby will be coming to Willy's Wings Rescue to rehome soon. My plan is to get her vetted and devise a plan to correct some, if not all, of her contractures to her limbs. Whether it is just therapy or possible surgery, I would like to get her back to being a bird.

The high amount of this fundraiser is so I can get her into my vet and/or specialist and come up with a plan for her daily and possibly long-term needs.

She seems happy, sassy, eats well, and gets around. She is walking on the floor to get to her destination.

This money will go directly to Gabby's care and any accessories she may need to upgrade her living arrangements.

She is not here yet, so I'm not sure if she needs accessories/platforms, padding, etc., for her cage, or if this poor girl has any underlying health issues.
