At Merlin’s Haven Dog Rescue in Cyprus, we give abandoned and mistreated dogs a second chance — but some come to us needing more than love. They need urgent, life-saving veterinary care.

This ongoing fund is for our special medical cases — dogs who arrive in crisis, needing surgery or complex treatment to survive and thrive.

First up is Doby, a beautiful Doberman found collapsed and distressed outside a home. She had an unregistered microchip and clear signs of being overbred, likely used as a breeding machine and then dumped.

Despite months of good food and care, Doby’s back legs were still giving way. She couldn’t run, and her hind legs slid out from under her. After a CT scan at V3TS in Larnaca, vets diagnosed her with Wobbler Syndrome — a neurological condition causing spinal cord compression, often seen in older Dobermans.

Without surgery, Doby would continue to live in pain. But there is hope. The operation has an 80% success rate — and Doby is undergoing it today.

We’ve committed to this surgery, which costs over €600, but we know more special cases will follow. That’s why this fundraiser will support all urgent and extraordinary vet care for dogs just like Doby.
