Charlene Tungbani is a 11yr old girl whose plight was discovered this past summer by Kaapuori Children’s Resource Foundation an NGO dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and mental health issues in the Northern Part Of Ghana , specifically in the Upper West Region. Charlene suffers from Anal Atresia
(Anal Atresia or imperforate anus which is an abnormality present at birth and characterized by the absence of normal opening of the anus. Elimination of fecal content may not be possible until surgery is performed. In her case, the rectum is open into the lower part if the vagina) A condition that could have been corrected before age 3 but due to lack of financial support and lack of education, she has since been living with the condition until KCRF discovered her story. Charlene is supported by her aging grandmother who has been the sole caregiver.
Charlene would need a three part surgery to correct this abnormality. Thankfully few people have generously supported with the initial surgery which was performed on December 10th, 2019 at the
Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi, Ghana and she is responding well to treatment. and looking forward to returning to school awaiting her next surgery scheduled on April 6 2020. It worth noting that Charlene is also deaf. However, her deafness has no impact on her ability to contribute to the society because she is able to communicate well using sign language and also doing well academically given her current situation. This is a child full of life but unable to function fully as a normal child due to her health situation and will therefore really needs your help to correct this painfully and unpleasant abnormalities in her life.
KCRF is pleading for your support to help bring Hope and Purpose back to Charlene. Your financial support will be used to complete the final 2 corrective surgeries needed and also aid her in making full healthy Recovery.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
