Give Canyon de Chelly this Holiday!

Many of you have crossed between worlds with my Navajo friend Lupita McClanahan at Canyon de Chelly.  Some of you have read about her as Margarita Dawson in our book https://www.amazon.com/Crossing-Between-Worlds-Navajo-Canyon/dp/1577665473 and seen the canyon through Charles Winter's photos.  Some of you have hiked and camped with Lupita at her hogan near the Junction.   For years, she brought groups to visit her home through Footpath Journeys.

Unfortunately, the Navajo Nation now charges Canyon residents $1500 per year for a guide permit.  For the last 3 years Lupita has been unable to do tours and cultural exchanges on her own land.   Those of us who have traveled with her would like to fund this year's permit and the commercial liability insurance she would also like to have.

So give your friends and Lupita a gift...make it possible for folks to visit and stay at the Junction Farm again.  The permit fees are due by December 15.  Getting Footpath journeys going again as a business will help support Lupita, her family..including her teenaged grandsons..not just this year, but will make it possible to put aside funds for the 2019 permit.

If you haven't visited the Canyon, you should... I wish I could bring you all there.  This will get the trip started.
