Give Amaya the Gift of Sight

Donation protected
This sweet, little girl is Amaya.  She is a 9 year old Yorkie from Puerto Rico.  Amaya spent her entire life as a breeder dog until an infection got the best of her and then, near death, was put in a cardboard box and left out in front of a college.  When someone found her, they brought her to the ASPCA in Puerto Rico.  There, they found both her ears were infected and she had Pyometra (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/pyometra-in-dogs), which was the cause of her being near death.  She was quickly spayed, which was the cure for Pyometra and given antibiotics for her ear infections.

She then was caged, again, for another year.

Thankfully, someone came and took her home to foster and was showed love, something she had never had.  Three months later, a call from NH came; someone was looking for an older dog to adopt!

Amaya arrived at Boston Airport and we were to be her new foster family to get her settled in before meeting her new home.  Once we got her to our house, we discovered she was totally deaf and blind...but nevertheless so very sweet.

When the day came to meet her potential new home, it was decided, as her potential new owner was an elderly lady, Amaya would be a too much work with her disabilities.

It was then decided that Amaya had already found her forever home and that home would be here with us.

With that decided, we took her to your Vet for a meet and greet and to get her set up at their office.  At that time, we were told she looked to be a good candidate for eye surgery as her blindness was caused by cataracts!

We then took her to a Veterinarian that specializes in eye surgery and it was confirmed that she had cataracts.  The only problem now is the cost of this surgery...$5,000.00!

With everything Amaya has been through in her life, our dream is for her to be able to see the people who now love her unconditionally and for her to enjoy seeing green grass (for the first time in her life).  She still will not be able to hear us, but she will be able to see us and see life as any dog should be able to see it...loved and full of images!

Cover your eyes and block your ears...this is how Amaya has to live now.  We are reaching out to anyone who can help us give Amaya the sight she so deserves.

Any donation received over the surgery amount, will be deposited into a special account that we will set up to assist our local urgent care Vet for those families that do not have the means necessary to save their family pet.

We thank you in advance for your kindness, care and love of dogs!
