<div>I hate that I have to ask for help. I've sat here ruminating about it, and questioning whether or not I should go through with this, but here I am - asking for help.

<div>In 2019, I was diagnosed with a rare neuro-immune disease called Transverse Myelitis, which left me paralyzed from the neck down. I'm now quadriplegic - meaning I have paralysis in all four limbs.
</div>

<div>Every day is a battle I have no other choice but to fight. Some days I win. More often than not, I lose, whether it's advocating for myself and not being heard, struggling with my chronic illness, frequent hospital stays, nursing visits, etc. Not being able to walk is not the worst part of paralysis, the comorbidities, having to depend on others for every day tasks, and lack of understanding, inclusion, and accessibility is.

<div>A wheelchair accessible vehicle was donated to me last year by a wonderful person (Thank you so much, Ashley. I'm forever grateful for you and your kindness ) Unfortunately, it needs some repair work done so that I can get it up and running.
</div>

<div>Having a working vehicle would be life changing. I rely on a transportation company to take me to and from doctor's appointments. They're often late and not always dependable. Because I have limited income, and I have to rely on the same transportation company to get me to destinations, it's very costly, and I'm unable to see loved ones and friends, attend significant events (weddings, graduations, funerals) or even do something as simple as visiting a park to enjoy the weather. Brand new wheelchair accessible vehicles can cost upwards of $80,000, and on average a used, but reliable and safe wheelchair accessible vehicle costs anywhere from $25,000-$65,000.

<div>A sense of freedom and independence is something I dream of. A better quality of life is what I long for the most.
