Help Me Build a Visual & Audio Content Studio – A Lifeline for an Unemployed Youth in Uganda

My name is Abdurahuman Ssekabira, a university degree holder, and I’ve been unemployed for the last two years. Like many youth in Uganda, I’ve faced the harsh reality of a struggling economy, limited job opportunities, and almost no access to startup capital. But I haven’t given up.

Instead of waiting for a job that may never come, I’ve taken a bold step — I’ve bought myself a camera using my savings. My dream is to start a small but professional audio-visual content studio for podcasting, videography, and content creation — a space where I can create, earn, and empower others.

But I can’t do it alone.

Why This Matters

Uganda’s youth unemployment rate remains alarmingly high. According to recent estimates, over 13% of youth aged 18-30 are unemployed, and many more are underemployed or stuck in informal work that barely sustains them. Access to capital is almost impossible without connections or collateral.

I’ve tried everything — internships, job hunting, volunteering — but nothing sustainable has come. What I truly need is not fish, but a pond — a space where I can create content, offer services, earn a living, and train others.

What I’ve Done So Far

Bought a basic camera using my savings.

Taken free online courses in video editing, podcasting, and digital storytelling.

Started working on content ideas that can uplift communities and inspire youth.

But I lack the essential equipment and setup to get started professionally.
