Give a young man back his eyesight
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Katie Crisp and I am trying to raise money for a friend of mine from Angola, Maria, who has a son who needs eye surgery to see. Junior was 5 years old when he started having problems with his eyes. Doctors told him it was an allergy and was sent away with medication. Instead of going away though, his condition got worse. Another doctor years later gave the same diagnosis and prescribed medication. Junior was able to attend school until 10th grade but then even with glasses his eyesight was too poor and this year he has stopped attending school from lack of vision. This has been especially hard on Junior as he is a very active young man. He can no longer see past 2 metres and therefore is afraid to go outside. A specialist finally this year has now given the diagnosis of keratoconus.
Unfortunately in Angola there are no doctors, nor facilities that treat keratoconus and so for Junior the only option is to travel to South Africa for surgery. Due to the advanced stages of the disease he will most likely require corneal transplants which cost around R100000 (Rand) or $5000 (USD) per eye. I am trying to raise money to help the family cover these huge costs. Any amount you are willing to contribute is greatly appreciated and if you can’t contribute at this time a “share” would be most welcome.
