It has been nearly a week since the destructive winds and rains of Typhoon Kristine made landfall in our town. As many are aware, the Bicol region and other parts of the Philippines were obliterated by up to 13 feet of floodwaters.
In the aftermath of this unexpected severe flooding brought by this typhoon, Kristine in the Philippines and Bicol region was the most hit. Our local community members face the daunting task of trying to rebuild their lives. This tropical storm has brought intense winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding that submerged the entire neighboring towns up to 13 ft high. This has led to widespread power outages, damage to homes, food, and infrastructure across multiple communities and regions. The devastation is widespread in the Philippines, especially in my hometown Nabua, Cam Sur - an area where most would never consider the effects of a tropical storm to leave any sort of impact.
The majority of my family members, relatives, and friends who were the most affected by this devastation reside in the Bicol region. The water began to recede slowly over a couple of days and revealed extensive damages and losses in farm production. Families are stranded with no power, no shelter, no clothes, no clean water, and no access to food. Most of the residents are reliant on the few charity organizations who have come in to deliver food and initial aid.
I am Marivic Delgaco, a resident of San Vicente Ogbon, approximately with 500 households. And I am raising this GoFundMe for the victims, especially for our local community (San Vicente Ogbon, Nabua Zone 1). For those particularly interested in donating to help in the effort to rebuild and stabilize our devastated community, this is the place to do it.
All of the proceeds will go toward the basic needs (medicines, clothes & most especially for food). Any amount you decide to donate will be very much appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of our community whose lives have been upended. Thank you.
Together, we can rebuild.
