Give a Little, Love a Lot - 2017

As some of you know, I visit a small town outside of Arusha, Tanzania annually. This fall I'm taking a sabbatical to spend a month with the families of the kids that my friends and family sponsor, with the hope that we can help advance the businesses they've been looking to start in the local communities. My trip will have two primary goals:
1) To invest in community development, by raising capital to get three small businesses started and educate the women who will run them, about finance and business, and
2) Continue to support the preschool, run by two local women who desire to provide free education to children in the area.
Specifically, I'll be looking to invest in two fruit stands and a small chicken business, while also helping finish the home of one of the kids I sponsor (her family has been saving money and building a room brick by brick each day during the last twelve months to move them out of a mud hut).
Separately, I'll be renewing the food contract I have at the pre-school and helping finish their construction projects (upgraded toilets and a better roof).
Lastly, any excess funding I raise will go to helping purchase a small food store for one of the parents who is looking to continue to support his family's development and education. I'm planning to work with him to raise money and help secure a micro loan for the remaining amount needed to purchase the store over the next two years.
The goal for this trip is truly to invest in the development of the community and the specific families and kids I work with (Irene P, Irene K and Allen, Joanne and Joelle and Esther, Witness, Ema, Glory, and Queenie) - to provide them resources and education to grow their future.
In the background I'll also be setting up Fatuma and Faines and a few other children in school, thanks to some oversee investors that have asked to sponsor them. :)
