Help Get #GirlScoutNiamh To America

Donation protected
My name is Niamh and I am one of 7 youngsters selected in East Grinstead, West Sussex, to travel to West Virginia USA, for the World Scouts Jamboree 2019.

The World Scout Jamboree is being hosted by USA, Mexico and Canada and there will be over 150 countries attending and 45,000 Scouts.

Here is a little video that shows the Jamboree https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vxCd-lHWXas

I am one of the youngest Scouts going as right now I am only 13. This does not worry me as I am an adventurer and Scouts has taught me how to be independent and confident.I must raise £3495 to attend and this does not include money to buy all my kit or spending money.

My dream is to raise more than that, so that I can pay for another girl from a deprived background, to attend scouts for a whole year. I want to do this because Scouts has given me so much and I very much want to promote girls scouting.

I would like to share with you what I have done so far to fundraise;

Bag packing at supermarkets
Stacking chairs and taking coats at a wedding
Serving food after bike rides at my local bike shop
Babysitting
Raffles Stalls at school festivals
Made paracord survival bracelets which I’ve sold
Door to door selling of cucumbers and tomatoes that I have grown myself
Car parking attendant at agricultural show
Bake sales at schools
Presentations to local businesses for support

Why I want this so much..

This is a once in a lifetime trip. I will never have the opportunity again as a scout, due to it only being held every 4 years. I doubt I will ever be in the position again to meet other children from 150 different countries, all in one go.

The application process was tough and only 7 of us were selected to represent our area, but I am so determined that I worked very very hard to get through the board and selection camps.

I love languages and I love meeting different people and will try any food at least once!

The activities are some of the world leading activities ie he second largest climbing wall in the world!

What I will bring back..

I hope to bring back even more independence as I will be away from my family for 3 weeks and will travel to West Virginia, New York and Canada.

My vision is to share my skills and help support and encourage other young people. I am already the UK Ambassador, which means that I communicate to the leaders, what the scouts would like to happen at this youth led jamboree.

My dream is to use everything I learn, to become a positive young female spokesperson back in the UK and to develop my leadership skills for the future.

Thank you for reading my story and I hope you’ll follow my journey to America.

If you are able to donate, then I am extremely grateful.
